Chelsea consider move for £43m Bilbao star Nico Williams

Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer move for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.

The 21-year-old has a release clause of about £43 million ($54.6 million), according to The Telegraph. However, it's said the winger makes up to £100,000 a week after taxes in Spain, making him one of the Blues' highest paid players.

Although there is a debate over whether Chelsea needs an all-out striker, Williams has impressed the west London team with his six goals and eleven assists this season. Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig are two of their primary targets. But if he did join with the Blues, it might cast doubt on Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling, two other wide players. Moreover, Chelsea might have to sell this summer before they can buy due to profit and sustainability regulations.

Williams, who is under contract with Athletic Club until 2027, has played for Spain in 11 games and netted two goals. Arsenal is purportedly one of the young player's admirers; he has played with Bilbao since 2013.
