Raheem Sterling apologies after missing penalty in fa cup tie against Leicester

Raheem Sterling has apologised to Chelsea fans after he missed a penalty in the FA Cup win over Leicester City on Sunday, according to Metro.

Raheem Sterling had a forgettable day as Chelsea progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals. Despite Chelsea leading 2-0 at halftime with goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer, Sterling missed a penalty and was responsible for defensive errors. Leicester capitalized on these mistakes, but Chelsea ultimately secured a 4-2 victory over ten-man Leicester, with goals from Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke, as Callum Doyle was sent off in the 77th minute.

Sterling has been on the receiving end of many jeers from the Stamford Bridge faithful this season, but was passionately defended by Mauricio Pochettino post-match. The 29-year-old has now sent a message to fans, posting on social media: ‘ Wembley Bound. To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss. ‘I’ll be back 10x times stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting for the badge every single day. Let’s go Blues.’
