Liverpool Seal €35m Deal for Jeremie Frimpong Ahead of Summer Window

Liverpool have officially secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €35 million, with the Dutch international set to join the Reds ahead of the upcoming 2025 summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old right wing-back has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga under Xabi Alonso, playing a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s recent title-winning campaign. His pace, energy, and attacking flair down the right flank caught the attention of several top European clubs, but Liverpool acted swiftly to finalize the move before the transfer battle intensified.

Frimpong’s arrival is expected to bring a new dynamic to Liverpool’s backline, providing direct competition and cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has at times shifted into a midfield hybrid role under manager Arne Slot, the newly appointed head coach taking over from Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool’s scouts have been monitoring Frimpong throughout the season, impressed not just with his defensive work rate, but also his offensive contributions — scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions for Leverkusen last season.

Sources close to the club confirmed that personal terms were agreed quickly, and Frimpong passed his medical earlier this week at Melwood. He is expected to be unveiled officially by the club in the coming days, with pre-season preparations around the corner.

Liverpool fans have welcomed the signing with enthusiasm, seeing it as part of the club’s rebuilding phase following Klopp’s departure. With more signings expected this summer, Frimpong’s addition represents a major step in modernizing the squad and injecting youthful energy into the side.

This move also reinforces Liverpool’s intent to challenge for the Premier League title and return to elite European competition.
